The fall season is all about Cyclocross racing. If you have never raced or attended a ‘Cross event, be sure to get out and enjoy the great events happening in the Carolinas. Mountain bikers got out last weekend for the Monkey Chucker 12 Hour mountain bike race, you can find the results here. Opportunities continue to ride your bike for a good cause which is what George Hincapie has been doing in his off season. Last weekend he participated in the Jerry Zucker Ride for Hope (videos below are from a participant) and yesterday he tweeted about riding with the top fundraisers from the Wheels for Meals event. He will also be joining the upcoming fundraising ride for Mark Knight.
If you are in the Greenville, SC area this weekend be sure to stop by the Hincapie Sportswear HQ for their Warehouse Sale. The hours are Friday 2:00pm-7:00pm and Saturday 10:00am-3:00pm.
The third NCCX race in the series is this Sunday at Hawksnest Golf Course located ten miles south of Boone. The course offers a combination of gravel, sand, grass, and pavement. There is also a natural and man made barriers. Registration opens at 9:00AM.
This Tuesday the North Meck CX Series in Huntersville, NC kicks off. This is a weekly Tuesday night series for the month of November. Cyclocross practice starts at 5:00PM with racing at 6:00 and 6:40. Don’t worry about the lack of daylight – the racing will be illuminated by the park’s stadium lights.
Due to the popularity of the HCCX Wednesday night series the promoter is adding two bonus races! The bonus racing continues Wednesday at the Boone Fairgrounds. This is a stand alone mini-series and they will have plenty of swag in the A and B categories. The action starts at 6:00PM.

Saturday Oct 30 the Greenville Spinners is promoting the 1st Annual Pumpkin Pedal. The ride starts in Spartanburg, SC and offers two rides: 67 and 32 miles. Both routes showcase the scenic nature of Spartanburg Water’s lakes and surrounding watersheds. Participants will receive a t-shirt and lunch. The proceeds from the ride will go to the United Way.
